Resume: The study of hospitalized children with acute respiratory infections (ARI) found that fever and cough were the most common symptoms, with PCR diagnostics identifying a viral pathogen in 70% of patients, including cases of single-virus and co-infections. Bacteriological culture was positive in 30% of children, with one-fifth having viral-bacterial co-infections. The combined use of PCR and bacteriological methods improves the accuracy of etiological diagnosis, helps identify co-infections, and promotes rational antibiotic prescribing, which is crucial in combating antimicrobial resistance.
